A dog-friendly pub or hotel may have a separate dining room where pets are not permitted. The Castle Hotel, for example, welcomes dogs in the main bar but not the oak-panelled dining room.
Mention your dog when booking
Give the number of dogs and ask about the actual table or seating area. A quiet corner may work better than a table on a busy walkway.
Have an outdoor alternative
Check whether outdoor tables are covered and whether food service depends on weather or time of day. Bring water and a mat if your dog uses one.
